Three records exist for Clark:
Isaac lists this child on his Civil War pension application as Clark Charles Chatfield (no “W” initial). There is the infant’s headstone engraved with C.W.C. and a burial record listing him as C.W.C. Chatfield with his birth/death date and parents’ names.
It is unknown what the W. stood for, though probably Willard, his father’s middle name. Clark and Charles are the names of Isaac’s two brothers, and Eliza also had a brother named Clark.
A lamb, denoting innocence and young age—common for an infant who died—is carved at the top of the infant’s headstone.
Isaac’s mother and infant Clark’s grandmother, Lovina (Mastick) Chatfield (died Apr 20, 1858), is also buried in the Bath Cemetery. Elizabeth Chatfield (born and died Aug 1859), the 1st child of Clark Samuel Chatfield and Louisa Tankersley, may also be buried there, but no record was found.
